The Edison North Renovation Project has moved into the next phase of work with the demolition of the center 1st and 2nd floors of Edison North. This will include the main stairway leading to the Atrium from Harvard Ave. This area is now closed off until March of next year. Keep in mind, the center of Edison North is now closed until March.
Each of the floors will be open but the center section will be closed and we will need to go around both inside and outside to get to these areas. On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors this will be confusing for a time, but the areas will be closed. This demolition of the 2nd floor Culinary area will be dusty, noisy and will last until around the 18th of September. The major renovation of the Dining rooms 2nd floor, and 1st floor for Continuing Education, Faculties & Auxiliary Services will start right away.
In the coming days we will see new furniture and equipment delivered to the new 2nd Floor Bakery/Main Kitchen and the 3rd Floor IT/BICTA with anticipated occupancy on September 28th. The new Mail & Receiving area will relocate and be open on or near October 5th as they move from the Atlas building at 1515 Broadway. There is a minor delay in moving this operation into the new Mail & Receiving area.
Many of you have wondered what the status is on the Edison North Exterior Renovation and Painting. We had some problems with the project, but are on track to be completed and painted by late October. This exterior repair and new appearance will be a welcome change to the community and the college.
I know I speak on behalf of the Design Team, Graham Construction and the entire Sub–Contractors on this project in expressing our thanks, appreciation and understanding during this major project undertaking. If you have concerns or question as we move forward please let me know. Every effort will be made to minimize the impacts of construction during the coming months.
Thank you.
