Would you be interested in being a wonderful role model for one of the former foster youth in our program? The College Success Program at Seattle Central Community College is planning to add a new component to the program beginning Fall quarter 2009.
Research indicates that a strong mentoring program can considerably increase the opportunities for former foster youth to be successful in life, school and work.
We would like to invite you to an informational session regarding this project to determine if you might want to help us by volunteering to be one of our mentors. This session will explain the details of our Mentoring Project including the role and commitment required of a mentor. I am attaching a list of the mentor eligibility requirements for your review before deciding if you wish to be part of this program or not.
While outcome measures indicate that the College Success Program has been successful, we believe the addition of a mentoring component will make it even more so! That will all depend upon having exceptional individuals such as yourself being willing to volunteer to be part of the mentoring project.
This College Success Program Mentoring Project informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 19th in the Student Activities Center, Room 210, from 5 p.m. to around 6:30 p.m. We invite you to come even if you have to arrive late or leave early.
Please RSVP to me at doberlander@sccd.ctc.edu or 206-516-3168 by 4:00 p.m. August 17th. If you need parking, include that request in your RSVP and I will have a parking pass for you in the SCCC Garage on the corner of Harvard and Pine.
We look forward to your presence on August 19th and to possibly having you join us in our efforts to help former foster youth succeed by being a mentor!
